Obesity

Overview

Community Care of Wake and Johnston Counties is one the pilot networks for a Kate B Reynolds funded Pediatric Obesity Prevention Initiative.

The initiative provides tools for clinicians as they follow clinical practice guidelines in the assessment, prevention, and management of overweight and obesity. The 1998 NIH Clinical Guidelines on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults, the 2007 Expert Committee Recommendations Regarding the Prevention, Assessment and Treatment of Child and Adolescent Overweight and Obesity, and the 2007 National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality (NICHQ) Implementation Guide were used as the basis of the program.

A quick Clinicians Reference Guide has been developed to assist you in following these recommendations.

In addition, we are trying to identify community resources to which providers and practices can refer.
